Space Trucking
Space trucking is the core cargo hauling profession in Star Citizen. It’s all about buying goods at one location and selling them at another—flying through space with a hold full of freight and a dream of profit. Whether you’re moving medical supplies, scrap, or luxury items, it’s the backbone of the in-game economy and a classic solo or group profession.
📦 What Is Space Trucking?
Space trucking refers to the buying, transporting, and selling of cargo using dedicated hauler ships. It’s one of the most accessible and profitable legal professions, especially for players who enjoy logistics, route planning, and laid-back space travel.
Think of it as space-based supply chain management—with the occasional pirate encounter.
🛠️ What You’ll Need
🚀 Cargo Ships (Solo to Medium):
Drake Cutlass Black (great starter hauler with 46 SCU)
MISC Freelancer (more capacity and range, ~66 SCU)
Nomad (23 SCU + ramp, ideal for small-scale runs)
Constellation Taurus (174 SCU, excellent mid-tier ship)
Hull Series (when released, industrial-level hauling)
🔧 Optional Tools:
Multi-Tool with Tractor Beam (for box delivery missions or offloading)
Cargo Grid Awareness: Understanding how to load and arrange SCU (Standard Cargo Units)
⚙️ How It Works
Buy Cargo: Go to a trade terminal (found at outposts, stations, or city kiosks) and purchase commodities like Agricium, Laranite, Medical Supplies, etc.
Load Your Ship: Cargo is auto-loaded into your hold (or manually loaded for box missions).
Fly to Destination: Navigate through quantum travel, avoid interdictions, and watch your fuel and timers.
Sell Cargo: Land at the target location, use the trade terminal to sell for profit.
Repeat: More runs = more money. Some players build entire careers on steady routes.
🌍 Where to Truck
Trade Lanes: Between mining outposts and major cities or LEO stations.
Laranite Loop: Buying from HDMS Bezdek on Aberdeen and selling to Lorville or Everus Harbor.
Agricium Runs: From ArcCorp Mining Area 045 to Area18 or Baijini Point.
Mission Cargo: Delivery box missions for reps and side income.
💰 Why Space Truck?
Steady Income: High-volume cargo can yield great profits per run.
Low Combat Risk: You can avoid fights with good planning and awareness.
Solo- and Org-Friendly: Works for lone wolves or convoy ops.
Immersive Routine: Fly, land, trade—it’s zen in zero-g.
Supports Exploration: Encourages learning trade routes and planetary layouts.
⚠️ Key Considerations
Risk of Loss: If you crash, disconnect, or get pirated, your cargo (and investment) is gone.
Capital Investment Needed: Buying cargo with aUEC up front can be expensive.
Market Variance: Prices change and inventories restock slowly; routes can be saturated.
Time Investment: Long quantum flights and atmospheric landings require patience.
