Salvage

Salvage is the profession focused on recovering valuable materials and components from derelict ships, wreckage, and debris scattered across space and planets. It blends exploration, risk, and careful resource management, offering both solo and team gameplay options.

🔍 What Is Salvage?

Salvage involves locating, stripping, and collecting materials—primarily Recycled Material Composite (RMC)—from wrecks using specialized tools or ships. Future updates will deepen the gameplay with component extraction and refining, but currently, it centers around hull stripping and collecting cargo boxes.

🛠️ How Salvage Works

  1. Find a Wreck: Use your ship or on-foot exploration to locate derelicts.

  2. Extract Material: Strip outer hull panels with salvage lasers or tools.

  3. Collect Cargo: Converted material is stored as RMC cargo boxes.

  4. Manage Storage: Stack and store salvage cargo carefully.

  5. Sell or Process: Deliver salvage to trade terminals or, later, refine into components.

🚀 Salvage Methods

  • Hand Salvage: Using a Multi-Tool on foot for small-scale recovery.

  • Solo Ship Salvage: Flying a salvage ship like the Drake Vulture for hull stripping.

  • Team Salvage: Operating large multi-crew ships like the Aegis Reclaimer.

🌍 Where to Salvage

  • Wreck sites around moons and planets like MicroTech, Hurston, Daymar, and Lyria.

  • After combat or missions leave derelicts.

  • Designated salvage locations and mission sites.

💰 Why Salvage?

  • Profitable: Salvage material sells for steady income.

  • Engaging Gameplay: Combines exploration, risk, and teamwork.

  • Supports Other Roles: Salvage ties into trading, mining, and combat professions.

  • Flexible: Works solo or in groups.

⚠️ Key Considerations

  • Limited Storage: Managing cargo space is essential.

  • Dangerous Sites: Salvage areas can be hazardous or contested.

  • Early Gameplay: Some features like component extraction are still evolving.

  • Risk of Loss: Salvage cargo can be lost if your ship is destroyed.
