Hand Mining
Hand mining in Star Citizen is the most basic form of resource extraction, designed for new players or those exploring planets and caves on foot. It allows players to collect valuable minerals and gems using personal mining tools.
🔧 Equipment Required
Pyro RYT Multi-Tool: The base tool used for hand mining.
OreBit Mining Attachment: An add-on for the Multi-Tool that enables it to break down mineable rocks.
Backpack: Needed to store collected gems like Hadnite, Dolvite, and Aphorite.
Mining Helmet (optional): Some helmets offer better lighting or aesthetic utility in dark environments like caves.
🪨 How It Works
Scan: Use your helmet’s or Multi-Tool’s scanning function to identify mineable rocks with a glowing, cracked appearance.
Fracture: Use the Multi-Tool to slowly increase laser power and carefully break the rock. Avoid overcharging to prevent explosions.
Collect: Once fractured, pick up the glowing crystals by hand or with the multitool. They go into your backpack inventory.
🌍 Where to Mine
Caves: The most common places for hand mining. Found on various planets and moons like Hurston, Daymar, and Aberdeen.
Planetary Surfaces: Some mineable rocks are scattered on the surface of moons.
Derelict Locations: Occasionally, mineables are found in wrecks or abandoned outposts.
💎 What You Can Find
Hadnite (most valuable)
Dolvite
Aphorite
💰 Why Do It?
It’s a great early-game income source.
No ship required—just a Multi-Tool and some survival gear.
It teaches the basics of the mining mechanic used in larger-scale operations later on (like with the ROC, Prospector or Mole).
