Team Salvage

Team salvaging is the large-scale, multi-crew version of the salvage profession in Star Citizen. Using big ships like the Aegis Reclaimer, groups of players can strip hulls, manage cargo, and eventually extract components and materials. It’s ideal for organizations or coordinated crews looking to break down wrecks with efficiency and style.

🧲 What Is Team Salvaging?

Team salvaging involves using a multi-operator salvage ship to extract RMC from large wrecks. Unlike solo salvaging, it leverages multiple turrets and crew stations to increase output. While currently limited to hull stripping, future updates will add component extraction, internal salvage, and material reprocessing.

🛠️ What You’ll Need

🚢 Main Salvage Ship:

  • Aegis Reclaimer:

    • 5-man crew recommended (pilot, 2 salvagers, cargo/tractor operator, engineer).

    • 4 salvage beam turrets (2 manned side turrets, 1 remote top turret, 1 forward turret).

    • Onboard RMC storage and cargo elevator for box generation.

    • Massive cargo capacity and industrial capabilities.

🧰 Supporting Tools:

  • Multi-Tools with Tractor Beams (for box management and on-foot salvage)

  • Looting Kits (wrecks may contain valuables)

  • Support Ships (optional, for hauling or defense)

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Find a Wreck: Locate large derelicts—space hulks, abandoned capital ships, or post-mission debris.

  2. Position the Ship: The pilot aligns the Reclaimer while gunners man the salvage turrets.

  3. Strip the Hull: Multiple beams operate simultaneously, rapidly converting surface material into RMC.

  4. Process and Box Cargo: The Reclaimer’s internal system stores RMC and spawns cargo boxes when full.

  5. Manage Cargo: Crew members use the internal tractor beam system to move boxes to storage racks.

  6. Offload & Sell: Head to refinery or trading outposts to sell RMC at commodity kiosks.

🌍 Where to Salvage

  • Deep Space Derelicts: Massive wrecks in asteroid belts or near moons.

  • Mission Debris: After completing or responding to combat missions.

  • Static Sites: Reclaimer-sized wrecks found on MicroTech or Hurston.

  • Future Locations: Pyro and uncharted systems are expected to hold richer salvage sites.

💰 Why Team Salvage?

  • High Output: More beams = more RMC in less time.

  • Industrial-Scale Operations: Great for orgs and long-haul logistics.

  • Expandable Gameplay: Supports box handling, loot recovery, and soon, multi-layer salvage.

  • Division of Labor: Everyone has a job—turrets, cargo, piloting, or security.

  • Immersive: Feels like running a real salvage crew aboard a ship-sized scrapyard.

⚠️ Key Considerations

  • Needs a Crew: Reclaimer is not viable solo—needs multiple people to function efficiently.

  • Limited Speed: The ship is large, slow, and hard to maneuver in tight zones.

  • Defense Required: Vulnerable to pirates—escort or turrets may be needed.

  • Not Fully Feature-Complete: Still waiting on deeper salvage mechanics like component recovery, hull rework layers, and refining.
