Team Mining
Team mining, also called multi-crew mining, is the most advanced and collaborative form of resource extraction in Star Citizen. It uses large mining ships with multiple mining lasers operated by separate players, allowing the team to fracture massive, high-resistance rocks that are impossible to solo. It’s perfect for players who want to work together and earn big.
🛠️ What You’ll Need
🚢 The Ship:
Argo Mole: The flagship team mining vessel.
1 pilot, 3 independent mining turrets.
Up to 4 players: 1 pilot, 3 miners.
Large onboard saddlebag storage.
Suitable for asteroid and planetary surface mining.
📦 Optional Support Ships:
Cargo haulers (e.g., Freelancer MAX, Constellation Taurus) to pick up refined ore.
Escorts or refueling ships for longer operations in dangerous space.
🪨 What You’re Mining
Very Large Deposits with high resistance.
Common Resources:
Quantanium (high risk, high reward)
Laranite, Bexalite, Taranite
Best rocks often require multiple lasers to fracture.
🧪 How It Works
Scan: The Mole uses its scanners to locate high-value targets. It helps to have a player fly the ship while others scan and mark rocks.
Fracture: Multiple players use turret-mounted lasers to mine the rock at the same time.
This is where teamwork shines—synchronizing power levels and timing to avoid instability.
Mining modules can be used independently by each turret.
Break: When the rock enters the safe zone and fractures, extractable chunks are created.
Extract: One of the turret operators or a dedicated role switches to extraction mode and pulls in the valuables.
Unload: Head to a refinery station or trade port to process or sell your haul.
🌌 Where to Mine
Asteroid Fields (best for team mining):
Aaron Halo Belt
Belt Alpha
Planetary Surfaces: Places like Lyria and Aberdeen still work but are harder to navigate and require more effort to find large rocks.
💰 Why Team Mine?
Top-Tier Profit: The Mole can mine multiple valuable rocks in one run.
Massive Efficiency: Three lasers mean faster breaks and bigger targets.
Social and Strategic: Great for orgs, friends, or coordinated crews.
Professional Potential: Ideal for long-haul mining operations, refining chains, and cargo logistics.
⚠️ Key Considerations
Requires Coordination: Poor timing can overcharge or fail to fracture a rock.
Quantanium is Still Volatile: Even a Mole has to return in time.
Crew Balance: You’ll want at least 3 crew members to mine efficiently—solo Moles are highly inefficient.
No Onboard Refining (yet): Refining must be done at dedicated facilities.
